MeL Presents SIRS Renaissance

Designed for high school and university use, this database provides dynamic information on architecture and design, culture, literature, multimedia, music, performing arts, philosophy and religion, and visual arts. Full-text articles are selected from more than 1,200 domestic and international publications. Many articles are accompanied by full-color images, including art reproductions, photographs, and illustrations. Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.

Yes! MeL Has Chilton's

Chilton's allows you to search by vehicle make and model back to 1954. You can review data on Chevys, Fords, Porches, Saabs, Toyotas and 33 other makes. Information on the vehicles includes Technical Service Bulletins & Recalls. Chilton's also includes maintenance information such as recommended intervals for servicing engine oil & filter, tires, spark plugs, etc. Chilton's has repair data including wiring diagrams and diagnostics on systems ranging from brakes to heating & air conditioning. CAMIO®-Catalog of Art Museum Images Online

Looking for high-quality art images that have been rights-cleared for educational and research use*? MeL has it in CAMIO from OCLC. You may search a wide-range of fine and decorative art by keyword or browse by museum or type of art including Architecture, Photographs, Drawings, Sculpture, and Textiles. Find photographs by Ansel Adams, Indonesian sculptures, pre-Columbian amulets, eighteenth century Japanese paintings and much, much more. All items include a description and at least one high-resolution image. CAMIO also allows you to save favorite images for easy retrieval later.

MeL Databases New 3-Year Contract

The next three-year contract for MeL statewide databases will go from 10/1/07 through 9/30/10. Here are the resources being provided to Michigan residents free of charge, thanks to the Library of Michigan and the federal Library Services and Technology Act funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

NoveList * - Helps to find the next best fiction book to read. Search by author, title, series, plots, or books like the one you just finished. Browse lists of award winners, lists of genres, and lists based on age. Find book discussion guides and more.
CINAHL * - Provides indexing for 2,857 journals from the fields of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Full-text material includes 70 journals plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments, and clinical trials.

MeL Resource for May: SIRS Discoverer

SIRS Discoverer is database designed with younger researchers in mind, but it offers so many wonderful options that it really is for everyone.
